The kids and I went on a spur of the moment adventure to some of our favorite places and a couple new ones not too far away in Boonville, CA. I thought I would share some of our favorite places in case you can find your way out there. Do you have any favorites in that area?
The drive
We drove out from Cloverdale which means we took Hwy 128 which is an absolutely breathtaking view the whole time. You can also get to Boonville from Hwy 253 from Ukiah if you are going up 101.
Anderson Valley Brewing Company
This was our first stop in Boonville. We have been out here many times over the years and watched it change quite a bit. They have a disk golf course that I know is a popular attraction although we don't play. Inside the large brewery you will find lots of beer options of course but they also have a fridge with drinks for the kids/non drinkers and some snacks. In the back of the building there is a magnetic dart board and a pool table.
Once you walk out to the back you will see a beautiful spread of green grass. There are colorful adorandack chairs placed around as well as some picnic tables and benches. A perfect place to bring a picnic lunch. The kids and I enjoyed cornhole and ladder toss (that game with two balls attached to a string that you throw as seen in the video below with Tucker) as well as soaking up the sun.
The river spot at Hendy Woods
One of our favorite places to hit the water is under the bridge just before the entrance to Hendy Woods so to get there just map to Hendy Woods State park and you'll drive over the bridge and then park just over it.
The water is verrryyyy chilly right now so don't plan a big water play date until later in the year. The easy path that we normally take is flooded but there is a nice big rope to hold onto and take a path etched into the hillside down to the river bank. Tip: you really need river shoes if you are gunna walk in the water or on the riverbank. Because of how much water there was there is no sand and all big rocks that hurt! Also the rocks are loose so you sink to your ankles as you walk in the water.

Brashley Vineyards
The kids and I wanted to stop to take some adorbs photos by this peace sign at Brashley Vineyards we had seen when we were driving through to the river. I needed to use the restroom so we went towards the tasting room even though the hours said they were closed. What we found was the sweetest owners welcoming us with open arms.
They gave the kids watermelon popsicles and made us all feel at home. Even gave the kids a tour around when their curious minds wanted to know what was upstairs :) We learned that the label is a combination of both of their names Bram and Ashley, very celeb of them. I was able to taste their wines and they were all delicious. I took home a bottle of their red and enjoyed it with pasta last night.
On their back patio they have those cool giants chess pieces and Tucker and I played our version of chess for a bit out there. I would highly recommend making a stop here!
Lauren's at the Buckhorn
We had packed snacks for the river but it was already dinner time when we were getting back through Boonville so we made a stop at Lauren's at the Buckhorn. Kyleah and I had stopped here when we went to Albion for her birthday trip and she recalled them having amazing noodles which they still do. Tucker and I shared some yummy fried mushrooms and I also had a delicious tostada. They have coloring pages which kept the kids entertained while we waited for our food.

We had a great day and headed back home tummies full and memories a little bigger. A few others places worth noting in the area includes:
- Pennyroyal Farm is amazing and definitely worth the visit. This time of year they have likely have baby sheep and goats on the farm.. They also have wine and food pairings, farm tours and a great grass play area for the kiddos.
- Paysanne for Icecream on the main street in Boonville right next to the Buckhorn
- Gowan's Oak Tree fruit stand, we love their apple cider so much and their frozen apple cider popsicles
